Miles Mikolas of the Cardinals and Chase Anderson of the Brewers both gave up early runs, but settled in nicely. Mikolas gave up 2 runs in the 1st, on an Jesus Aguilar sacrifice fly scoring Christian Yelich, and a Brad Miller single that scored Lorenzo Cain. Anderson gave up his only run on the day on a Yadier Molina solo-shot in the 2nd. Mikolas on the day went 6.2 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs while striking out 5. Anderson had a less efficient day, going 5 innings giving 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 9. Molina gave the Cardinals the lead in the 6th on his 2nd homerun of the game, a 2-run shot that scored Marcell Ozuna. The Cardinals would not look back, and won the game by a final score of 3-2.
